2023 Election Dates are Set Beginning with Caucus on April 1st

By Joe Morey News Editor

The LCO Tribal Governing Board (TGB) set the dates for the 2023 TGB Election cycle with the Nominating Caucus set for Saturday, April 1st, at 9:00 am sharp, and to be held at the Peter Larson Room of the LCO Tribal Office. This is the process whereby any tribal member may nominate qualifying tribal members to be candidates to the LCO Tribal Governing Board.

Candidates nominated will have three days to accept their nominations and go through background check for any past election fraud or felony crimes. All candidates put on the ballot by the Election Committee will then run for the Primary Election which was set for Saturday, May 13, at two polling locations, the LCO Tribal Center and the New Post Community Center.

All candidates in the Primary Election will be narrowed down to the top eight vote getters, who will then advance to the General Election, Saturday, June 17. The top eight will first have to pass a drug test and any who doesn’t pass the drug test will be removed from the ballot and the candidate from the Primary receiving the next highest votes will then be placed on the General Election ballot.

The candidates currently serving on the LCO TGB whose terms expire in 2023 are LCO Vice Chairwoman Lorraine Gouge and members Michelle Beaudin, Glenda Barber and Gary “Little Guy” Clause.
