Elder and Veteran Services Report for October

Boozhoo and Miigwech for taking the time in reading updates to our LCO Aging & Disability Services, this will be my last article I will be writing to you in my current position, I will be resigning from my role here with Lac Courte Oreilles and will be moving on to another position with the WI Department of Veteran Affairs as the Tribal Veteran Liaison. My last date of employment with LCO will be Wednesday, November 3rd, I am extremely grateful and humbled for the time spent within this department, I have gotten to learn and grow from the countless clients, coworkers, and staff that I worked with and experienced from throughout our tribal community. I have enjoyed gaining the training, knowledge, and educational experiences during my time here, and it has brought me to a point in my career that I am thankful to being able to continue to providing assistance and knowledge and to work with not only with my own tribe but all 11 tribes throughout the State of Wisconsin.

With that being said, Chi-Miigwech to everyone from my family, friends, coworkers, clients, veterans, and everyone I was able to work with and learn from, Giigawaabemin!

Staff hosted a bingo event today from 1-3pm and it was very well attended and look forward to hosting once a month events, we will continue to advertise flyers each month and hope to continue to raise money to sustain this monthly event. Good Job to Carole, Rose, and Di-Z!

We are planning a tentatively scheduled Medicare Outreach/Health Fair and are trying to finalize vendors and speakers for Monday, November 15th, 2021, from 10am – 2pm, we are hoping to have a lot of department vendors that will be providing much needed resources and information, the flyer will be out hopefully by next week, we hope to see you there!

LCO Veterans Powwow is scheduled for Thursday, November 11th at the Sevenwinds Convention center, I have been in discussions to have several Veteran Affairs vendors to be in attendance, please stop by and meet them.

Thank you and Take care,

Respectfully,

Terrance Manuelito

Tribal Aging & Disability Services Director

Tribal Veteran Service Officer
