Headstart Holds Ceremony for 40 Graduates

Submitted by Barb Biller

HS/EHS Program Director

The Lac Courte Oreilles Head Start Program held a curbside Graduation Ceremony on June 24, 2020 beginning at 9:00 a.m. and running through 1:45 p.m. There were 42 Graduates who will be moving on to Kindergarten next year. The ceremony was held outside while all staff

and families practiced safety and social distancing. Each Graduate came up individually to receive their gown, photos, diploma, cupcakes and a bike. The bikes were provided through a generous donation by the LCO Tribal Governing Board.

Each child and family had individual time for photos during this special time. The bikes and presents from their teachers were a big hit for our kids. The teachers and staff wanted to ensure that the Graduates enjoyed this important day toward transition to Kindergarten.

We appreciate the HS/EHS teachers for their help and dedication. The Management Staff did a great job of organizing the event and making it memorable for families. Ms. Rosalie Miller announced the names of each Graduate while the staff and teachers assisted the children during the Ceremony.

A special "thank you" to Pastor Tim Young for capturing over 2,000 photos of Graduation. He has been a program volunteer though the Covid Pandemic, and has volunteered with other work at the Center.

Again, thanks to all the volunteers, managers, staff, teachers and Governing Board for their help. We appreciate all you do for the children and families at Lac Courte Oreilles Head Start and Early Head Start.
