LCO Housing Authority Conveys Ownership of Former Reserve Elder Center and Two Community Centers to TGB

Over the past coupe of months, the LCO Housing Authority has conveyed ownership of two community centers and the former Reserve Elder Nutrition Center over to the LCO Tribal Governing Board (TGB).

The two community centers are located in New Post and Signor. All facilities were former HUD buildings owned and maintained by the Housing Authority.

The Reserve Elder Nutrition Program officially moved into its new facility next door to the old building in Reserve earlier this year.

The TGB is asking the community for input on repurposing the facility. A current proposal is to establish a temporary winter homeless shelter for this upcoming cold season. Five ideas have been discussed and will appear in this week’s digital LCO News as well as on a Facebook poll on the Lac Courte Oreilles Today group page.

The current ideas include the homeless shelter, a foster care home, remodeling into a duplex to address housing, a community and recreation center similar to the current ones in New Post and Signor or using it for office space.

At the Facebook poll, it is open for community members to include options not already on the poll.
