LCO Little League Playing in Southern Sawyer County Little League Tournament Saturday

Updated: Jun 29, 2019

The LCO Little League team finished up the season with a record of 7 wins, 5 losses, good enough to put them in 4th place and host their first round playoff game. LCO defeated Birchwood 1 with a score of 6 to 0, avenging their loss one week before to the same team by a score of 6 to 3.

On Thursday, LCO traveled to Exeland to continue on in the double elimination championship tournament. LCO lost to league leaders Exeland twice in the regular season and Exeland finished undefeated at 12-0. It was another tough loss for LCO when they went down with a score of 13 to 5. They play the winner of Birchwood 2 and Ojibwe 2 on Saturday at 11:00 at the Exeland softball fields. If LCO wins that game, they will play the winner of Birchwood 1 and Winter as they move on in the brackets.

UPDATE:

LCO defeated Birchwood 2 by a score of 7 to 3 to start off their playoff run in Exeland. Right after that game they faced Winter and won 8 to 5 in a great game played by all the youth. Next, they had to get through Ojibwe 1 to play against Exeland in the championship and in a hard-fought game they were narrowly defeated 3 to 2 and finished the tournament with 3rd place. Each of the LCO players received a Bronze Medal for 3rd place.

"Thank you George Mac Taylor Jr., Steph Barber, Wendell Wolfe, Lonnie Barber, Steve Crone Sr., and Chuxie Barrows for making this season happen! Without all your help it wouldn't be possible. These kids will remember this time in their lives forever," said the Boys and Girls Club of Lac Courte Oreilles on their Facebook page.

The team will play in a post-season tournament in Winter during their 4th of July Jubilee festival on Thursday, July 4th.
