LCO Ojibwe School Singers and Royalty Represent All 182 Tribal Schools at Event in D.C.

From the LCO Ojibwe School


To kickoff Native American Heritage Month the Bureau of Indian Affairs invited the Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe Schools high school Migiziwag singers & the high school royalty to the Department of Interior in Washington D.C.


Speaking at the event was United States Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland. The drum group opened the ceremony with a flag song, performed an inter-tribal for the LCO school dancers and closed with a traveling song.


Lac Courte Oreilles was nominated for this opportunity by the BIE to represent all 182 tribal schools across the country. Representing LCO is Ogitchidakwe Mercedes Miller, Ogitchida Darian Goodsky, drummers Edward Benton, Mathew White and Thomas White. Chaperones for the trip are Stephanie Isham, Ahsinees Larson & Nick Hanson.
