LCO Police Give Report on K9 Sniff at Sevenwinds

Due to the large increase in drug trafficking activity at the Sevenwinds Casino, on March 9th, 2020, Sgt. Ciatti and K9 Justice responded to the Sevenwinds Casino and Lodge along with Sgt. Sams, Officer Edley and Officer Junker of the LCO Police Department to conduct a random dog sniff on the Sevenwinds property.


A random dog sniff was done around vehicle located in the parking lot of the Sevenwinds Casino and Lodge. This dog sniff was conducted on property owned by the LCO tribe and is open to the public.


Sgt. Ciatti and K9 Justice are a certified team and are certified by (NAPWDA) North American Police Canine Association. K9 Justice is trained and certified to locate the scents of 4 illegal narcotics; cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana.


During the above dog sniff of the vehicles and grounds of the Sevenwinds Casino and Lodge K9 Justice found interest in several areas and vehicles but did not alert on any. No vehicles and property were search by the Police Department. LCO Police will continue to conduct random dog sniffs throughout the LCO reservation and Tribal properties in an attempt to prevent the trafficking of illegal drugs and to protect to citizens of the LCO Reservation.
