New Child Development Associate Offered at College

By Amber Marlow Dean of Continuing Education and Customized Training

The new Child Development Associate Certificate is an 8-credit specialized certificate through Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe College's Continuing Education Department - the application/ registration process is streamlined.

Attached are the 2 registration forms that are needed. This certificate is entirely online with some Zoom meetings with the instructor. Students will start with the first 2 courses in December. Students will complete 1 course at their pace and then continue to the 2nd course and so on. It is a work at your own pace type of curriculum. The workload for each 1 credit course is 15 hours of instruction. If students need to borrow a laptop, we can help with that. There will be a form for a background check that will need to be completed once the registration forms are turned in. We are still working on this process. You can print the forms and fill out, scan and email back or you can fill out the attached pdf fillable form. I apologize as it is a little clunky - but here are some tips:

  1. you will need to right click and use the highlighter for the martial status and gender questions.

  2. You can use the “add notes” to complete your signature using your mouse or just type your name.

  3. When you are finished – “print as a pdf”, save the copy to your device and then email the attachment back to me at ext@lco.edu

Please keep in mind this certificate is not a financial aid eligible program. Each course/ credit is $63, you could check with your employer or tribal higher education department to see about a scholarship. The college does accept purchase orders. Please let me know if you have any questions, I'm here to help.
