LCO Ojibwe School Director Jessica Hutchison informed the Tribal Governing Board (TGB) at their meeting on Monday, July 15, that the installation of the new gymnasium floor is complete but it has to cure for two weeks.

Hutchison said once that is complete, they have badly-needed new bleachers coming in. She hopes the new bleachers can be installed prior to the first LCO girl's volleyball game in late August.

It was announced in May the Theresa Williams Gymnasium would be getting a new gym floor upgrade complete with the updated school logo and signage.

The $109,000 project is being done by JWood Sports Flooring out of Hudson, Wis. Enbridge funds will be used to cover the costs.

In May, LCO Vice Chairman at the time, Jason Schlender said, “The floor was rotting out and was a liability issue. It may have also been a possible finding in a safety audit, so the tribal governing board agreed it was something we needed to complete.”

Schlender went on to say, "It’s a great addition to our community because the Theresa Williams Gymnasium is a central facility for the tribe that hosts powwows, sporting events, graduations, and community events.”
