Whether you’re a fan of classic country tunes or love a little friendly competition for a good cause, Sundays at Big Fish and Dye Hards Bar promise great times, amazing food, and drink specials.
Music lovers can look forward to live performances by talented old-time country bands like Lovin’ Country and Larry’s Drifters, as well as other exciting acts that will join our stage from time to time. On alternate Sundays, join us for charity poker and bingo tournaments aimed at giving back to the community. Once a month, our charity poker tournaments will raise funds for the Hayward Sports Center, while charity bingo events will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Lac Courte Oreilles. Don’t miss the chance to enjoy a Sunday filled with entertainment and community spirit at Big Fish!
The Sunday fun kicks off on February 2 with Lovin’ Country at 1:00 pm. They are a well-established, well-equipped, musical duo from northern Wisconsin, who’ve been performing together since March of 1992.
As their name "Lovin' Country" implies, according to their website bio, their first love and strongest marketing point is country music. This of course includes all forms; radio hits, standards, bluegrass, cajun, classic and country rock.
“These are just part of what we do. We work very hard at doing many more genres and styles, as authentically as possible. We can deliver oldies, 50's & 60's, southern and classic rock, blues, funk, r&b, motown, big band, and even polkas and waltzes,” the duo of Donie and Rosie Burns explained.
“As you know we are a duo, but we share many of the same venues, festivals, etc., that 5 to 8 piece and even larger bands play. It's absolutely essential to us to hold our own, and have a big, full ‘danceable’ sound,” they said. “We accomplish this by using a number of top music technology tools that include a keyboard/computer system with which we record our own backing instruments such as; drums, bass, piano, keys, synths and horns, etc., while playing other instruments such as guitar, synthesizer guitar, pedal steel guitar, keyboards and fiddle live on stage.”
Their bio goes on to explain these types of tools are used at virtually every major act concert you go to these days. They are not talent replacement tools - they are enhancement tools and they explain that every note you hear when they're onstage comes from their hearts, heads and hands to your ears.
Lovin’ Country performs regularly at a wide range of venues and events from small backyard parties on up to festivals with 35,000+ in attendance, including casinos, clubs, fairs, private and corporate parties.
Make sure to visit the Big Fish Golf Course event center on Sunday, February 2nd. And if you miss this show, they will perform once again on February 23rd and again March 23rd.
Larry’s Drifters is scheduled to take the Sunday stage on March 9th and again on April 6th.
The first of a series of monthly charity poker tournaments to raise money for the Hayward Sports Center will take place on Sunday, Feb. 9th at 1:00 pm, leading up to the Super Bowl, which you can watch on one of the eight new large screen TV’s surrounding the event center. Each month the tournament will take place continuing to raise money for a great cause, the sports center. The next one is scheduled for March 2nd.
