Traffic Stop Results in Over 5 Pounds of Marijuana Seized

At approximately 10:30pm, May 7, Officer Nate Schweitzer with the Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Police Department effectuated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a speed violation in the area of Trepania Road. During the initial vehicle contact the officer immediately detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The officer also observed drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.


A search of the vehicle revealed twelve baggies of marijuana packaged for sale, five large bags of marijuana, several items of paraphernalia, and other evidence of ongoing drug distribution.


In total, approximately 87 ounces (5.4 pounds) of product was taken into evidence with an estimated street value of $23,000. Cash and the vehicle itself were also taken into evidence.


Subsequently, the driver, Jeffrey L. Quaderer, 60, LCO, was also suspected of being under the influence of THC and was arrested for Operating while Under the Influence - 3rd Offence.


In total, the driver was arrested for OWI – 3rd Offence, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – 2nd Offence, Possession with Intent to Deliver THC, and Possession of a Controlled Substance near Certain Places due to the proximity of the violation to the LCO Drug Free School Zone. The driver was also cited for speeding.


The case has been submitted to the Sawyer County District Attorney’s Office for review.
