The Winter Warriors Boys Basketball team has been one of the hottest teams in the state, scoring an impressive 82.0 points per game, which leads all Division 5 schools in Wisconsin.  They also lead all Division 5 schools in rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks.

The WIAA Regionals included matchups with three teams; the Gilman Pirates, the Hurley Northstars, and the Drummond Lumberjacks.

Winter sank Gilman’s Pirate ship with a score of 87-48, Gunnar Greuel led all scorers with 28 points and 15 rebounds.  The Warriors then took apart the Northstars with a score of 77-52, Carter Petit led all scorers with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 steals. The regional championship game brought together a 19-7 Drummond Lumberjacks team, and the 19-7 Winter Warriors.  Winter took home the first regional championship since 1995 with a 72-56 victory over Drummond.  Once again, Carter Petit led all scorers with 18 points, and was joined by Curtis Thompson Jr with 18 points.

The Warriors have been dialed in as one of three teams in the state with all 5 starters scoring in double digits; Carter Petit (20.0 ppg), Adam Bednorski (18.0 ppg), Gunnar Greuel (15.0 ppg), Curtis Thompson Jr (12.3 ppg), and Malte Colliander (10.3 ppg)

The next stop for the Winter Warriors is a sectional semi-final game in Medford against the Owen-Withee Blackhawks on March 7th, 2024.  Tip-off is at 7:00, and the game is live streamed with OnFocus Sports.  In the event of a victory, the Winter Warriors would play the likely favorite in the Solon Springs Eagles for a shot to go to the state tournament.
